The Bible (in the book of James) challenges us to “be doers of the Word, and not hearers only…” (James 1:22)

It is time to start living out our faith – to be “doers of the Word”.  It is time to be bold about our faith – not the “book burning” kind of bold or the “hell and damnation” type of bold, but bold about our love towards others…reckless about sharing our faith in tangible ways…courageous about standing up for what we believe by living it out.

What does this type of faith look like?  What are the “tangibles” of a faith that truly lives out what we claim to believe?

I believe it looks very different than what many Christians are living today.  It’s a faith of contentment beyond materialism.   It’s a faith of peace and joy beyond circumstance.  It’s a faith that sacrifices it all for the sake of something eternal – “the pearl of great value” (Matt. 13:45)  It’s a faith that looks to advance not merely the Church on earth, but to advance the Kingdom on earth “as it is in heaven”.

Ways to live out the Truth of what we say we believe…

1. Honor God with your lips, your heart , and everything you do. (see Matt. 15:7-9)

2. Bear fruit by making disciples [this is one way to prove that you are truly a disciple of Jesus]. (see Matt. 28:18-20 and esp. John 15:8)

3. Love one another.  By loving one another, we also show that we are disciples of Jesus, that we keep God’s commandments and it is a way that Jesus manifests Himself to us.  (Read John 13:31 through John 15)

4.  Serve others (do not be self-serving or self-seeking).  (See Philippians 2, Matt. 23:11-12, Luke 22:24-27)

These are just a few of the ways to live out our faith . For a complete listing, see your Bible.  🙂
