Where Do I Start?

will ratliff faith brewing

Hi, I’m Will Ratliff, creator of Faith Brewing. No matter where you find yourself on your journey of faith, I want this to be a space where you can:

  • Ask questions
  • Feel free to share doubts
  • Comment and participate
  • Connect with me and others

The journey can be lonely (believe me, I know) so look around, explore, see what you find and what speaks to you.

For me, there have been significant stages of my spiritual growth. I have listed some blog posts, as well as a few resources (find more on my Resource Page) that I hope will help you dive deeper and grow in your relationship with God and also help you.

Finding Freedom in Christ

Every journey begins with a first step. The first step to freedom in Christ is believing in Him as Savior. God reveals Himself to us in a multitude of ways and no one way is right or wrong. I’ve experienced God in a number of ways including:

  • Nature
  • Scripture (the Bible)
  • Other people
  • Silence and solitude
  • Art and music

God wants to reveal Himself to you and does so through His Spirit, His Word, and even through nudges that help direct us in our everyday life. If you need more direction or want to chat, join the Faith Brewing Facebook Community or feel free to reach out to me via email at will@faithbrewing.com.

Growing in Christ

Once we commit to seeking God, He wants us to grow in our relationship with Him. Not crazy about going to a church building or service? That’s ok. I currently am not a regular attender of a church service in a building but seek to connect with others in daily life and encourage others on their journey.

Just as there are numerous ways to experience God, there are also a variety of ways to grow in Him. The danger is when we start creating rules and principles to live by. God asks us to live by His Spirit, not rules and regulations. He desires to speak to us and lead us as we learn to love Him and love others around us.

Next Steps

So, what now? Where do you go and what do you do?

First, tell the Lord what you want and desire out of your relationship. Be honest and open to what he has for you. Then, listen. God speaks in a multitude of ways, but we have to learn to listen to Him and how we speaks.

Feel free to check out some of the posts and resources on the blog and engage with both me and fellow believers.

Join the Facebook Group, where you can feel free to ask questions, explore your faith, and see what others are saying and experiencing.

And, relax! Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to perform FOR God and to do stuff FOR God, that we seldom relax into the relationship that He has for us.
