The truth is…
You have the full attention of the Creator of the Universe.
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” (Psalm 139:1-7)
This passage of Scripture goes on to say that no matter where we are, God is there. We cannot flee from His presence. He is everywhere, and we have his full attention. Can you imagine? The Creator of the Universe is totally invested in you. He created you. He knows you and loves you. He knows your thoughts even before you speak them (scary, yes, but pretty cool, too, right?)
God also knows all of your days. He has them numbered. He even has the hairs on your head numbered (oh, hang on, hair #134,392 is out of place!)
One of our desires is to be known. Child of God, you are known most intimately by the one who created you! We long to be known by others, but the one who knows us the best wants us to know Him too.
The reality is…
We are not satisfied with that. We’ve become desensitized to even the idea of it. Our senses have been dulled to the Lord’s presence and the Shepherd’s voice. We love to be flattered and would prefer the praise of man to the attention of God. Proverbs 26:28 warns us against flattery, that it leads to ruin.
Not only does God know us, but he wants us to know Him as well. David, the Psalmist, knew this and towards the end of Psalm 139, declares,
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.
Are you ready to live by the truth? Or will you continue to settle for less? Move forward today knowing that our Creator is giving you His attention, and spend some time today giving Him some of yours.
